Article XXVII: Brahmacharya In his book Kindle Life, Swami Chinmayananda describes brahmacharya as self-control. In a discussion of the moral and ethical codes of behavior, Chinmayananda further defines brahmacharya as abstinence from excessive indulgence in the sense pleasures of life. From a Vedantic perspective, abstaining from indulgence in sense objects is the prescribed method of approaching selfless action and non-attachment. By overcoming the vices of the physical body, one can transcend through that physical sheath of maya and approach the Self within. |
